Native Gamza 2019 by Varbovka winery is a wine that presents the indigenous Bulgarian grape variety Gamza in an extremely exciting and intriguing way.
Its pleasant pale purple color gently leads the senses to the fine complexity that this wine is showing. The aroma is piquant with hints of black pepper, green pepper, coriander seeds and nettle, and juicy strawberry, cherry and red apple opening beneath the spiciness. Additional complexity is given by shades of leather, tobacco, fresh lilac and tomato leaves on a base of forest soil and beetroot.
Extravagant freshness coming from sour cherry juice, lime juice and tangerine juice, and powerful spiciness expressed through coriander seeds, green pepper and black pepper dispute the dominance on the palate. With the development in the glass, notes of dried tomatoes, red apple and fresh dogwoods make their way.
A very interesting, gentle and at the same time complex and very well balanced wine, which would especially impress the fans of the rare local varieties and terroirs.
