Native Kailashki Misket 2019 by Varbovka winery is a wine that presents the extremely rare indigenous variety in an extremely exciting and intriguing way.
The hay yellow color of the wine hints at its maturity and excellent balance between freshness and fine sweetness both in aroma and taste.
On the nose are leading the typical for the variety floral notes expressed through the dominant yellow St. John’s wort, geranium and rose, followed by nettle, lavender and intensifying over time snowdrop and tulip. The fruit profile is expressed mainly by a sweet yellow apple and tender pear, which harmonize with the sweetness of caramel custard and sour cream. This fine sweetness is perfectly balanced by the marked freshness of highly expressive lemongrass, which is especially noticeable in the taste where it is complemented by lime juice and creates a feeling of an overall fresh experience. The taste is also slightly piquant with a long and memorable spicy aftertaste, with geranium in the foreground and fresh pear, cream and St. John’s wort opening in the middle of the palate.
A very exciting and intriguing, perfectly balanced and complex wine, which would especially impress fans of rare local varieties.
